How to Import Contacts from Excel to Outlook 2013 / 2016

There are many situations when you may need to import a contact list to your Outlook. Here are three simple steps.

Step 1: Convert Excel to CSV

  1. Open the Excel file and select all cells with data for migration.
  2. Click File > Save As and choose CSV (Comma delimited).
  3. Click Save.

*Ignore messages “The selected file type does not contain workbooks that contain multiple sheets” and “Some features in your workbook might be lost if you save it as CSV (Comma delimited)”.

Step 2: Import Data

  1. Open your Outlook and choose File > Open&Export > Import/Export.
  2. Select Import from another program or file > Comma Separated Values.
  3. Browse to the .csv file and select Contacts as the destination folder.
  4. Click Map Custom Fields.

Step 3: Map Fields

  1. Drag values from the left pane in the right pane connecting suitable matches.
  2. Click OK and Finish.
