How to Import Data From Microsoft Excel

To Switch from Other CRM Software in Few Clicks.

The Import from Microsoft Excel option might be a very useful feature especially if you need to migrate from another CRM or if you have purchased a contact list and now you want to move these contacts to eWay-CRM and track communication with them.

eWay-CRM allows you to import Companies, Contacts, Deals, Projects and Products.

Importing Companies

  1. Click on the Companies tab on the eWay-CRM ribbon.

  2. Customize the list view so it contains all the fields you want to import. Just right click on a header of any column, choose Column Chooser and drag-and-drop fields you will want to import. Learn more here.
  3. On the eWay-CRM ribbon, click on the button Save Template for Import.

  4. Open the saved Excel file and fill it in with your data. You should pay attention to possible duplicates and missed values. eWay-CRM will import only consistent data. Save the file.
  5. On the eWay-CRM ribbon, click on the button From Excel, load the table and import the data. Alternatively, you can simply drag-and-drop the file.

Importing Contacts

Prior to importing contacts, you have to import or create companies manually first to be able to set a relation between them and contacts. See the above instructions on how to import companies.

  1. Click on the Contacts tab on the eWay-CRM ribbon.

  2. Customize the list view so it contains all the fields you want to import. Just right click on a header of any column, choose Column Chooser and drag-and-drop fields you will want to import. Learn more here. Make sure that you included the column Companies into your template.
  3. On the eWay-CRM ribbon, click on the button Save Template for Import.

  4. Open the saved Excel file and fill it in with your data. You should pay attention to possible duplicates and missed values. eWay-CRM will import only consistent data. Save the file.
  5. On the eWay-CRM ribbon, click on the button From Excel, load the table and import data. Alternatively, you can simply drag-and-drop the file.

Importing Products

  1. Click on the Products tab on the eWay-CRM ribbon.

  2. Customize the list view so it contains all the fields you want to import. Just right click on a header of any column, choose Column Chooser and drag-and-drop fields you will want to import. Learn more here.
  3. On the eWay-CRM ribbon, click on the button Save Template for Import.

Importing Deals / Projects

  1. For Deals, click on the Deals tab on the eWay-CRM ribbon.

    For Projects, click on the Projects tab on the eWay-CRM ribbon.

  2. Customize the list view so it contains all the fields you want to import.
    Decide if you want to to import workflow statuses as well. If so, make sure that you have the column Type and Status included into your template. Keep the field empty if you want your deals have the initial status New.
    During the deal import, you can also take advantage of such advanced features as:
  1. On the eWay-CRM ribbon, click on the button Save Template for Import.

  2. Open the saved Excel file and fill it in with your data. You should pay attention to possible duplicates and missed values. eWay-CRM will import only consistent data. Save the file.
  3. On the eWay-CRM ribbon, click on the button From Excel, load the table and import data. Alternatively, you can simply drag-and-drop the file.

  4. A window will pop up with a question of whether you want to validate workflow actions during import of data. Click Yes if you are importing workflow statuses or No if you are not importing workflow statuses.
