New 'Layout by Status' Feature Set Streamlines CRM for Data-Heavy Companies

Published 6. 5. 2024

Many companies manage large quantities of data within their databases. However, navigating a form cluttered with numerous fields can be daunting for employees. The new "layout by status" feature now lets eWay-CRM users tailor the form's appearance based on the workflow's status. It enables them to hide and display specific fields on deal, project, or task tabs, simplifying navigation and boosting productivity. In our interview with Marek Mikes, eWay-CRM Customer Success Manager, you'll discover how this feature revolutionizes daily operations in data-intensive companies.

A "layout by status" feature set is now part of eWay-CRM. Could you explain what does it do?

Depending on the workflow's status, this feature allows users to display or hide fields on deal, project, or task tabs.

In practice, I can decide whether I want only the essential fields to be displayed. As the workflow progresses, I can display more fields to meet my future requirements.

Conversely, users can hide those fields they no longer need to keep the CRM neatly organized.

Was this feature developed primarily for the power users who have requested it?

Absolutely. Most users who are comfortable with a standard look of layout don't feel the need to change it. However, businesses that deal with complex forms that are packed with a number of fields will find great value in simplifying their workflows this way. This feature makes users focus only on the fields relevant to their current workflow stage. And prevents overwhelming feelings connected to being drowned in useless data.

Which industries have expressed they need this feature?

Sectors like finance, which work with complicated and lengthy workflows, have shown interest. For instance, the mortgage process requires extensive data collection about the customer and the application's status. In general, this new feature is highly beneficial for companies focused on solar energy and manufacturing.

How exactly does this feature make complex projects of the solar and manufacturing companies easier?

It is great because for the ones where different team members engage at various stages of a project, each of them can customize their view. This adaptability ensures that each team member accesses only the information they actually need. Therefore, the system stays neat, and not cluttered.

For those readers who are not tech-savvy but are interested in using this feature, would you recommend it to them?

Just let us take care of the setup. (laughs)

Why is that?

The configuration options in the admin app are quite intricate. Even though we prepared detailed documentation, managing database and workflow modifications might not be straightforward for everyone.

It's not that an admin might conceal essential fields; rather, the setup process is meant for those with more advanced skills.

How to make the form layout user-friendly and efficient?

The most important here is to engage with those users who are affected by the changes in the setup process. They should provide input on the fields at each stage. Ensuring the setup meets their teams‘ needs. Achieving a consensus is essential for the functionality.

For organizations dealing with substantial data volumes, it is worthwhile to invest in customized form layouts. Once configured, these forms require minimal ongoing management even though adjustments and additions are always possible.
